Every fee layer, and what each one is measured in.
Your freight rates come from your own destinations, weights and parcel mix, so they are produced against your data rather than printed on a page. Everything else about the bill is here: which fees exist, what each is measured in, when the number becomes binding, what is included, and how a settlement is checked line by line.
The fee structure
A bill has six possible layers
Six layers can appear on a WooliiPorter bill: handling and packing, international shipping, route surcharges, value-added services, storage and destination duties. Which of them apply depends on the model you use — a store holding no stock never sees the storage row.
| Fee | Measured in | Applies when |
|---|---|---|
| Handling and packing | Per outbound package | A shipment is picked, packed and measured for dispatch. |
| International shipping | Chargeable weight × destination, service and cargo type | Always. Chargeable weight is the greater of measured and volumetric weight, and cargo type is set by the warehouse operator at receiving. |
| Route surcharges | Percentage of base freight, or fixed per parcel | Fuel, war-risk, peak-season or destination levies apply to the route. Surcharges live in their own layer, always apply to the base freight price, and never compound on each other. |
| Value-added services | Per unit or per operation | You declare relabelling, FNSKU labels, polybagging, bundling, inspection or similar. Billed on the quantity actually operated. |
| Storage | Per volume held, per period | You chose to hold merchant-owned inventory. Itemised on the monthly statement and computed from the stock ledger. |
| Duties and import taxes | Set by the destination | The destination authority assesses them on arrival and they appear as their own settlement lines. |
Included
You pay per shipment. That is the whole commercial relationship.
Receiving is included, an opening window of storage is included from the date a parcel is received, and the packed quote you approve is the number that settles. You pay for the shipments you send and the services you declare.
- Receiving is included. Scanning, photographing, weighing, measuring and recording the contents of every inbound supplier parcel costs nothing.
- Storage is included for 60 days from the date a parcel is received.
- You pay for the shipments you send and the services you declare. No platform fee, no subscription, no minimum shipment count, no minimum order quantity.
- The packed quote you approve is the number that settles. Nothing is added between your approval and the settlement.
- WooliiPorter’s revenue is the service lines on your bill — the company never buys your goods, so there is no product price for a margin to sit inside.
The published figures
The platform-wide figures, and where your freight table lives
These apply to every account and are published: storage is 60 days free from receipt, then $0.50 per m³ per day; the fulfillment operation for an outbound order dispatched from stocked inventory is $0.99 per order + $0.20 per item. They are read from the same billing settings the invoice is produced from, so an edit in the console reaches this page.
Freight is lane-based — product line × destination country × zone × cargo type — and your own live freight table is in the merchant console after approval, where it is quoted against real parcels rather than approximated.

Value-added services
What one operated unit of each service costs
Every warehouse value-added service carries a published per-unit price, and the unit is the quantity the warehouse actually operated on rather than the quantity declared on the order — twenty units declared and eighteen units labelled bills as eighteen. Each service becomes its own settlement line, so the bill itemises the work rather than summarising it.
| Service | Per unit operated |
|---|---|
| Quality check — appearance, function, count | $1.50 |
| Photo evidence | $0.50 |
| Relabel — FNSKU, barcode, shipping label | $0.35 |
| Compliance sticker | $0.30 |
| Polybag, bubble wrap, moisture barrier | $0.40 |
| Bundle, kit, split pack | $1.20 |
| Branded hangtag or custom consumable | $0.60 |
| Reinforce against breakage | $1 |
| Repack — new carton, dimensional optimisation | $1.80 |
| Palletize | $12 |
Services are executed from your written instructions and closed with photo evidence before the order moves to packing, so the list you were billed for and the list that was photographed are the same list.
Estimate versus final
Two numbers exist, and they stay separate
The estimate is produced before the goods are measured, from declared weights and dimensions. The packed quote is generated after packing and measurement from the parcel that is actually going to travel, and it is the number you approve and the number that settles.
| Object | What it is |
|---|---|
| The estimate | Produced before the goods are measured, from declared weights and dimensions. Useful for deciding whether an order is worth taking. Labelled as an estimate everywhere it appears. |
| The packed quote | Generated after packing and measurement from the live rate table, using the parcel that is actually going to travel. This is the number you approve, and it is the number that settles. |
| The bill | A list of fee line items that reconciles against the packed quote and carries its ID, so every charge traces to the operation that produced it. Duties assessed by the destination and services you request afterwards appear as their own lines. |
The quote is computed from the measurement of the packed parcel, and that measurement stays on the record. You can see the dimensions the price came from before you approve it.
How settlement works
Prepaid, one currency, reconciled line by line
Merchant settlement runs from a prepaid wallet per shipment. There is no credit check to pass, no payment terms to negotiate, and no month-end bill that arrives larger than expected.
| Mechanism | How it behaves |
|---|---|
| Funding the wallet | Instant card top-up through Stripe credits the balance immediately, with no evidence upload and no review step. Bank transfer suits larger amounts where card processing fees start to matter; you record the transfer and it is credited after review. |
| One currency per wallet | The first transaction fixes the wallet currency, and a mismatched top-up is caught at the moment of top-up rather than at settlement. |
| If the balance runs short | New warehouse work is held and resumes on top-up. Shipments already in flight are never held for a balance question. |
| The exchange rate | Conversion uses the European Central Bank mid rate plus a 5% markup, snapshotted onto the quote. A stale snapshot fails the quote, so you are billed on a rate that was checked at the moment you were quoted. |
| Storage, if you stock | 60 days free from receipt, then $0.50 per m³ per day, computed from the stock ledger and itemised on the monthly statement. Zero when you hold no stock. |
| Duty prepayment (DDP) | Available on supported European lanes, so your customer is not asked for money on delivery. The prepaid duty and its service fee are their own line items. |
Sources
Every number on your bill has a source you can name
Freight comes from your own lane table, transit from the live route table at the moment you book, duties from the destination authority, the exchange rate from the European Central Bank mid rate plus 5%, and the published figures from the same billing settings the system charges from.
| Number | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Your freight rate | Your own lane table, resolved from destination, zone, service and the cargo type the warehouse confirmed — applied to the parcel that was measured. |
| Transit | The live route table at the moment you book. WooliiPorter times the parts it runs: receiving, packing, quoting and dispatch are timestamped on your record. |
| Duties and taxes | The destination authority, assessed on arrival and shown as their own settlement lines. WooliiPorter points at the official source for each destination. |
| The exchange rate | The European Central Bank mid rate plus 5%, snapshotted onto the quote you approved. |
| The published figures | The same billing settings the system charges from, read at render time, so the page and the invoice cannot disagree. |
Questions
How does WooliiPorter publish its merchant pricing?
As a fee structure: every layer that can appear on a bill, the billing unit for each, the platform-wide fee figures read from the same billing settings the invoice is produced from, and what is included at no charge — in both human and machine-readable form. Freight itself is produced against your own destinations, weights and parcel mix.
How does WooliiPorter set my freight rate?
From your own lane table: product line × destination country × zone × cargo type, resolved against the parcel that was actually measured and packed. Rates are scoped to your account and live in the merchant console once the account is active, where they are applied to real parcels rather than approximated from a published average.
What is the difference between the estimate and the final bill?
An estimate is produced before the goods are measured, from declared weights and dimensions. The final charge is the packed quote generated after packing and measurement, and it is the figure you approve before dispatch. The two are separate objects in the system and are labelled distinctly everywhere they appear.
Can charges appear after I have approved the packed quote?
The settlement is a list of fee line items that reconciles against the packed quote and carries its ID, so every charge traces to the operation that produced it. Charges that arise later — destination duties, or a value-added service you request afterwards — appear as their own line items.
Who decides the volumetric weight my shipment is billed on?
The packed parcel is measured at the warehouse and the quote is computed from that measurement, which stays on the record with the parcel. Chargeable weight is the greater of measured and volumetric weight. You see the dimensions and approve the resulting number before dispatch.
What exchange rate does WooliiPorter use, and when is it fixed?
WooliiPorter converts using the European Central Bank mid rate plus a 5% markup and stores a snapshot of that rate on the quote itself. If the snapshot is stale when the quote is produced, the quote fails rather than billing on an unchecked number. The merchant wallet holds one currency, fixed by its first transaction.
What are the public calculator rates then?
Those are current personal-forwarding rates for direct customers, read from the live route table. They are the rates a direct customer pays, which makes them a useful sanity-check on a lane. Merchant freight comes from your own account-scoped lane table in the console.
What am I billed for if I hold no inventory?
Per shipment. The storage layer is exactly zero when nothing is stored, and one real shipment is enough to start: WooliiPorter sets no minimum shipment count and no minimum order quantity.
How does settlement actually work?
Merchant settlement runs from a prepaid wallet, per shipment. The wallet holds one currency, fixed by its first transaction. Each bill is a list of fee line items that reconciles against the packed quote, and monthly statements itemise storage computed from the stock ledger.
How do I fund the wallet?
Two ways. An instant card top-up through Stripe credits the wallet immediately, with no evidence upload and no review step. A bank transfer suits larger amounts where card processing fees start to matter; you record the transfer and its evidence, and it is credited after review.
What happens if my balance runs short?
New warehouse work on that account is held rather than rejected — the order waits for a top-up and resumes once funds are available. Shipments already in flight are never held for a balance question.
Can I prepay duties so my customer is not asked for money on delivery?
Yes. On supported European lanes WooliiPorter prepays import duties and taxes (DDP) so nothing is collected at the door. The prepaid duty and its service fee appear as their own line items, and the estimate and the packed quote stay separate objects exactly as they do on any other lane.
How do duties and taxes work?
They are assessed by the destination authority on arrival and appear as their own settlement lines rather than inside the shipping figure. WooliiPorter points at the official source for each destination, and applies that destination’s policy in the warehouse before dispatch so a parcel that would fail is caught in China.
